Spring Gully Foods of South Australia is among 22 applicants that will be receiving grant offers totalling $5.5 million from the Federal Government to help reduce its environmental footprint.
Re-tooling for Climate Change offers dollar-for-dollar grants from $10,000 to $500,000 to help small and medium Australian manufacturers improve the energy and water efficiency of their production processes.
Spring Gully Foods, which manufactures pickles, preserves and honey, will use their funds to replace existing boilers with a high-efficiency, low-emissions boiler.
According to Innovation Minister Senator Kim Carr, the grants will help manufacturers save water or reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
“The projects funded involve harnessing solar energy, water recycling, reusing waste heat, and various other process improvements,” he said.
Other successful applicants include Nugan Quality Foods, Elderton Wines, Master Butchers Co-operative and Tabro Meat.
Re-tooling for Climate Change is part of the Rudd Government’s Clean Business Australia – a partnership with the manufacturing industry to tackle climate change.
