In a report posted on ABC online, the two leading supermarket chains have been busted for selling imported fruit labelled as Australian from Sydney outlets.
A Woolworths store in Newington has been fined $1,540 for selling American lemons as Australian, while the Coles store in St Marys has been fined $800 for Israeli grapes advertised as Australian.
Both supermarkets have been added to the NSW Food Authority’s Name and shame penalty notice.
