Fosters upgrades inkjet coding system

Fosters has increased its efficiency since it decided to upgrade its inkjet coding equipments at the Abbotsford plant in Melbourne in 2007.

With the support of Tronics, Fosters installed the Videojet 1510 inkjet coding system that has been used to print information such as the ‘use by’ date detail on shrink-wrapped cluster packs.

“A big thing about the system was changing over ink cartridges. It was simple, easy and fast. But above all, the ‘smart’ cartridge fluid delivery system eliminates spillage and ensures the unit won’t accept incompatible inks,” said Russell Fisher, reliability assurance team leader at the company’s Abbotsford Brewery in Melbourne.

According to Tronics, the Videojet 1510 can operate up to five lines of print at speeds of 278 mpm. It can also store up to 100 messages and features a 3 m umbilical.
