SSI Schaefer International recently launched the Schaefer Case Picking (SCP) at CeMat 2008 in Hannover; a world-first paradigm-changing, fully automated case-picking system that can handle almost all SKUs.
The SCP can automatically select, palletise and stretch-warp stable, cube-optimised, mixed-case pallets, and withing a few hours of its launch at CeMAT, was award the MM Logistik Award.
The SCP is suitable for any retail distribution process delivering missed and full-case pallets directly to store — even the most demanding environment — grocery, frozen, electronics and footwear — are ideal industries for the SCP.
The SCP’s simple linear process, ability to manage customer specific pallet parameters and its highly-efficient picking process promise a strong competitive advantage over conventional systems available today.
Features of the SCP allow the user to:
- reduce order cycle times through a fully automated process. Rush orders can be the next pallet processed;

- minimise product damage and shrinkage through computer-controlled automated product processing and handling;
