Air circulators for fast cool in food processing

  • Published: 07/09/2009

Air circulator technology from Fanquip is being used in the food processing sector to provide a fast-cool function without the use of refrigeration.

Ideal for general food processors, bakeries, pet food plants or any other business performing any type of cooking process, the utility air circulator is being used to cool hot foods without affecting them with condensation problems.

Air circulators also work on natural internal conditions without altering the temperature by artificial means. It is the simple act of air movement that provides the cooling effect.

During the summer months in particular, cooking processes in food production can be responsible for overheated workplaces (in winter it can also cause unmanageable levels of damp).

So these fixed head circulators can be distributed around a site to create an air flow that otherwise would not be possible to obtain from normal conditions afforded by the design of a premises — at least not without refrigeration.

And, when dampness after baking or heating creates potential problems in the colder months, the air circulation created provides fast drying to protect product and employee.

Made from industrial galvanised steel with a hose proof motor, they are also optionally available in full stainless steel.

Initial capital outlay of these units is soon outweighed when compared to the downtime that would be caused by a cheap, imported non-sealed mild steel alternative which quickly rusts.

Fanquip air circulators are all Australian-made; forerunners of this latest model are still running after 20 years continuous service.

The heavy duty air circulators operate on two speeds and have three-blade impellers to ensure large volumes of air can be moved when and where required.

Fan diameters available are 460mm, 630mm, and 810mm, with each of these dimensions relating to both wall mounted versions and pedestals.

Motor power ranges from 0.20kW to 0.30kW. Free air volumes moved at high speed range from 3000 litres per second through to 17,000 litres per second.

Operating voltages available are a choice from 1 Phase 240V or 3 Phase 415V in all of the fan diameters.
