Siemens has released a new check-metering portable clamp-on unit for testing the performance of flow meters. The Sitrans FUP1010 is said to be heavy-duty and suited for both indoor and outdoor applications.
It can be adjusted between transit time operation and Doppler operation, measuring all flow meter technology, aeration and solids percentages.
Where homogenous liquids are involved in the factory, such as primary sludge, mixed liquor or drinking water, transit time operation is the preferred mode of measurement. This is accurate to 0.5% of the flow.
Where liquids contain extensive solids or aeration percentages, such as thickened or digested sludge, the Doppler operation is used to automatically verify liquids with accuracy of up to 1% of the flow.
The portable unit can be used for on-site surveying and monitoring of temporary or permanent flow meter installations. The battery takes one hour of charge to provide four hours of operation.
The kit also includes a one megabyte data-logger which produces reports and statistics to be downloaded to a Pc via a RS232 connection.
Other functions include temporary leak detection and verification of high-precision tasks such as chemical dosing.
