Scorpion stainless steel electric motor now has a sting in its tail

  • Published: 17/02/2010

Harrington Electric Motors has released a new improved version of the popular Scorpion Stainless Steel electric motor.

First released to the market in 2005, Scorpion Stainless Steel electric motors have found their way into ‘problem’ areas all over Australia. They can be found in many major food processing factories and in other areas where conditions are corrosive or humid.

Acting on requests from customers the new upgraded version of the Scorpion Stainless Steel motor includes a “round” terminal box, allowing electricians to gain access to the connections simply by using a shifting spanner. The new “terminal box cover” is made of machined cast stainless steel, and is simply screwed into the terminal box.

Sealing is improved, with the use of an O-ring under the cap. Installation is further simplified with the choice of two gland locations. The new version of the Stainless Steel motor has the HACCP standard hygiene approval, an important issue in food processing. It is becoming the motor of choice where motors are mounted on machinery above exposed food product, as in mixer applications.
